Video Shared More Than Text

video is shareable and memorable

When was the last time someone you followed on social media shared a video? Probably not that long ago, and you’ve likely already seen a video shared today. When was the last time someone you followed shared an article or a page of text? Do you even remember? Chances are it was some time ago.

Social media users share emotions, not facts. Text feels much more like the latter while video feels more like the former. People don’t want to share boring content. They want to share things that are funny, interesting, creative, and helpful, which is why videos get more shares on social media than pages of text.

Just how likely are videos to be shared on social media? 76% of social network users share branded videos if the videos are fun, interesting, and creative. People may not share a video featuring someone sitting at a desk and speaking ‘at’ the audience, but they may share a video featuring someone explaining how to use a product in a creative way.

A marketing video could mean someone using the product incorrectly and experiencing funny mishaps before another individual demonstrates how to properly use the product. This is a funny scenario which will more likely be shared, even if the person sharing it has no interest in the product which contributes to the company and product’s exposure

Many businesses work very hard to increase their exposure via shares on social media; some even run contests to stimulate more sharing. However, it doesn’t have to be that difficult. Businesses that want more shares on social media just have to produce a fun and creative video which will increase the chances of the video being shared.
