The Vision
Wayne Teethart, a master carpenter, has always been passionate about working with wood, influenced by memories of his grandpa's shop. His goal was to create a relaxed prairie beach aesthetic that blends coastal themes with traditional prairie cottage elements.
The Process
Wayne’s renovation philosophy centered on reusing materials. He repurposed old siding, transformed recycled hemlock into cabinets, and installed reclaimed hardwood floors. The result is a home that looks lived in and improves with age.
The Collaboration
Renovating the beach house was a family effort, with Wayne’s wife, Kristen, and their children contributing significantly. The project brought the family closer, reflecting their collective love for natural, sustainable materials.
The Outcome
After five years, Wayne proudly reflects on their sustainable beach house that harmonizes with its natural surroundings. "The lake is what draws me in," Wayne shares, emphasizing the importance of community and nature in their lives.
